His title was Sailani and His name was Abdul Rehmaan bin Kaale Khan (Al-Haaj Abdur Rehmaan Shah Sailaani R.a.).

His father was a famous Businessman who was known to all in the city of Delhi. Janab Kale Khan Sahab was a wealthy and respectful man. Janab Kale Khan had all worldly comforts but had no children due to which He and His noble wife were leading a disappointing life. Due to this His noble wife used to be depressed and in this state she saw a noble saint who was a majzub. She ran to the saint and poured her heart out regarding her childlessness. Hearing her story the saint was very much moved and he gave a fruit from his bag and said that by Allah’s mercy, a son will be born to you who will not be a common man but will acquire knowledge and become a great Saint and will guide people on the right path.

The saint told her to keep the Son’s name Abdul Rehmaan. The lady happily took the fruit from the Saint and promised to do as she was told and she also said that she would be happy as per Allah’s will. After sometime a son was born to her and his mother named him Abdul Rehmaan as promised to the Saint.

From childhood He was intelligent and mature. When He grew a little older he developed a fondness for exercise and body building. When He became 14 years old He left Delhi and traveled to Deccan, due to His liking for wrestling. During this journey He heard a lot about a wrestler named Noor Miyan who he perfected the art of wrestling and who lived in Balapur. Hazrat Abdul Rehmaan reached Balapur and stayed at the place of Noorul Islam Jagirdar alias Nooru Miyan for some days. After some days He planned to leave for Hyderabad from Balapur. When He was not His way He met a Derwish. The Derwish asked Him what He did for a living? Hazrat Al-Haajj Abdul Rehmaan Shah Sailani (R.A) replied that He was a wrestler. The Derwish replied that what is the use of exercise and wrestling? Do the exercise which is useful and due to which people are benefited by you.

On hearing thus Hazrat Al-Haajj Abdul Rehmaan Shah Sailani (R.A) became deeply engrossed in His thoughts and He asked Derwish, which was the exercise through which He could be helpful to people. Please give me knowledge which will be helpful to people. The Derwish saw that heart of Hazrat Abdul Rehmaan was capable of receiving the knowledge of His spiritual path. The Derwish advised him to go to Nanded and meet a great Saint who resides there.

In those days many wrestling competitions used to be organized in Chopda. There was a famous wrestler, who was also an Aamil. This wrestler had the power of a demon (Jinn) and used this power to fight. There was a match fixed between this wrestler and Hazrat Al-Haajj Abdul Rehmaan Shah Sailani (R.A). During the fight, Hazrat Abdul Rehmaan lost the fight, which was His first defeat. Due to this He became very unhappy. Hazrat Md. Masoom / Hazrat Qutub Shah Armaan (R.A) Had also come to see the fight. As soon as He gave the message of Hazrat Shah Khairuddin Makhdoom Mujarrad (R.A) to the wrestler, the Jinn who was under the control of the wrestler, stopped supporting the wrestler and thus Hazrat Al-Haajj Abdul Rehmaan Shah Sailani (R.A) was able to defeat the wrestler easily.

This incident changed the heart of Hazrat Al-Haajj Abdul Rehmaan Shah Sailani (R.A) and He decided to take the oath of allegiance (Byath) at the hands of Hazrat Shah Khairuddin Makhdoom Mujarrad (R.A). He was again surprised and went to meet Hazrat Shah Khairuddin Makhdoom Mujarrad (R.A) who asked Him, where he gone and why He had come back. Hazrat Al-Haajj Abdul Rehmaan Shah Sailani (R.A) replied that since He had not been accepted as a Mureed, He was depressed and had decided to leave.
